How we got there
CHALLENGE
Taking the burden off of clinical staff
100% of the issues come from 10% of patient claims. Clinical staff and nurses did a lot of work to ensure payment for every dose, and still 1-5% of them were charged back to their practice due to bad patient data.
DISCOVERY & RESEARCH
The wrong person in
the wrong place at the wrong time
Administering a dose takes the nurse on a journey
from lab, exam room, and front desk and back to exam room depending on patient coverage.
DISCOVERY & RESEARCH
3 workflows to do
the same thing
Nurses were dispensing doses, front desk was collecting patient info and any patient responsibility for each encounter.
DESIGN
One workflow to
rule them all
We eliminated the extra work by utilizing a single, seamless workflow at the point of care: the exam room.
In the clinic, that meant a checkout process that takes less than a minute for a nurse and adds only a single step that happens 6% of the time.
DESIGN
A guided process for quick info collection
Over 90% of patient encounters would only require the nurse to scan doses.
Collecting information or payment from a patient would rarely happen so it was essential to have a guided process with clearly defined steps.
TESTING
Pilot for real-world feedback
For our partners, we wanted to understand if the new processed worked for clinics.
For the business, we wanted to measure the impact of taking on additional risk.

LAUNCH
Low friction, high adoption
Clinics utilized the patient outreach option because VaxCare took on the work of collecting patient information and filing the updated claim for the practice.
