How we got there
CHALLENGE
Working from a blank slate
Wellsense was a start-up with a working prototype and not much else. The app was basically a proof of concept. The brand itself appeared as a placeholder for a company still in its infancy.
VISUAL DESIGN
Visualizing the mechanics of the
human form
The goal was to communicate the level of pressure across the body on the bed. Accurate information is important and powerful but it can be beautiful.
I studied different types of data visualizations across many subjects rather than focusing on typical medical chart design.
Real feedback in
real time
The Outcome
In less than 2 years, the WellSense M.A.P. was in 60 healthcare facilities. It was studied in an intensive care unit over 2 months that showed a dramatic decrease in instances of pressure ulcers.
